The University of West Georgia will formally invest Dr. Michael Johnson as its ninth president during a ceremony rooted in centuries-old academic tradition. An investiture marks the official conferral of authority and responsibility to a university president and serves as an opportunity to honor an institution's history while looking ahead to its future. The ceremony will bring together students, faculty, staff, alumni, community leaders, elected officials, delegates from colleges and universities across the nation, and friends of the university to celebrate this significant milestone in UWG's history. During the ceremony, Dr. Johnson will receive the symbols of office, be formally charged by University System of Georgia Chancellor Sonny Perdue, and deliver his investiture address outlining a vision for the future of the University of West Georgia.
